It all started when a YouTube channel by the name ‘Slayy Point’ uploaded a video about weird comments posted on Indian YouTube channels. Titled “Why Indian Comments Section is Garbage (BINOD),” the video talked about all the bizarre comments the content creators of the channel receive on their videos. That’s when they noticed a comment dropped in by a user named Binod Tharu. “Binod,” that’s what his comment read. And what’s more interesting is that the comment received several likes.
The video went viral. Binod meme has got so popular that Slayy Point even changed their description in the “about” section to this:
But why are Binod memes trending?
Sensing a perfect opportunity for memes, Twitter users soon started sharing all sorts of tweets using the name as the hashtag. Internet latched on to it so much so that even Paytm changed its name to Binod on Twitter. Yes, we are not kidding.
A user challenged the company to change its name to Binod. And guess what? Paytm did it!
