Reportedly, the US Department of Transportation said it plans to announce more details of the review at a press conference on Friday.
The review of the jet will involve design, manufacture and assembly, including a battery that caught fire on an empty 787 parked in Boston on Monday.
Adding to the tally of incidents that have tested confidence in the Dreamliner, on Friday the passenger jet suffered a cracked cockpit window and an oil leak on separate flights in Japan.
Airline companies which have Boeing 787 in their fleet are All Nippon Airways, Japan Airlines, United Airlines and Air India.
Air India had ordered for 27 Boeing 787 and got its first one delivered on 6 September 2012 and started operation on 19 September 2012.
Air India also had its problems with its Dreamliner, on November 25, 2012, it was reported that Air India had requested a team of Boeing engineers come to India to address issues described as “teething problems” with its aircraft.
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner is a long-range, mid-size wide-body, twin-engine jet airliner developed by Boeing Commercial Airplanes with varying from 210 to 290 passengers seats. The airliner uses new technology to cut the fuel cost for operating the plane by 20 percent.
