Among those who participated in the power packed panel discussion included deputy leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha, party spokesperson Prakash Javedkar, vice president Mukhtar Abbhas Naqvi, spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain and party treasurer Piyush Goyal.
BJP leaders, however, admitted to Zee News that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) having made a dent to party’s gains in Delhi. They expressed confidence that the party would ultimately form government in all four states.
“If Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was not there, BJP would have got more than 60 seats,” said Prasad. He, however, expressed his confidence in forming the government in all four states – Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Delhi.
Prasad also credited Modi factor for win in state polls. He told Zee News, “Modi deserves credit for the victory; he is the face of the party. Be it Jammu or Trichy, people have shown a good response to his rallies.”
Senior BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain was of the view that the reflection of results in four states “can be seen” in upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He told Zee News, “Results today show that BJP will form the government in centre in 2014.”
BJP Vice President Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi praised and welcomed the debut political innings of the AAP. He averred, “Aam Aadmi Party has proven itself in Delhi election which should be accepted by all.”
BJP general secretary in-charge of Karnataka, Thawarchand Gehlot, reasoned party’s “slow decision making” over chief ministerial candidate for not crossing the magic figure of 36 in Delhi. He averred, “Things could have been different in Delhi if Dr. Harsh Vardhan was declared earlier as BJP’s CM candidate.”
Psephologist-turned-politician GVL Narasimha Rao, who is also the member of national executive, BJP praised the effort of independents in Delhi and said they are not the oddballs. He said, “Trends show that even ‘others’ can be crucial in Delhi.”
For neck to neck race in Chhattisgarh, senior BJP leader Piyush Goyal explained, “Chhattisgarh setback is due to Bastar violence earlier which helped Congress.” He was also of the view that BJP is ready for introspection and will analyze the verdict in each state.
