At 73, Lauren Hutton Fronts One of Spring’s Most Beautiful Fashion Campaigns

Lauren Hutton set every ’70s fashion lover’s heart on fire when she made a return to the runway during the Bottega Veneta presentation at Milan Fashion Week this fall. Naturally, she’s continuing to work with the brand as the face of its S/S 17 campaign, and the newly released photos do not disappoint.

The iconic model, who famously appeared in Ralph Lauren and Chanel campaigns decades ago, now appears fresh faced and bright, dressed in pinks and reds in Bottega’s new photographs. While it’s certainly not a new concept to include women of an older generation in a runway show (Rachel Comey and Tome did it for spring 2017, too) or ad campaigns (remember Joan Didion for Céline?) it’s still far, far from the norm.

Not only is Hutton’s latest work a wonderful dose of nostalgia for anyone who’s idolized her career since the ’70s, it’s also a win for diversity. As The Fashion Spot reported, last year only 5.3% of women represented in fashion publications were above the age of 50. Here’s hoping 2017 has more of this kind of progress in store
