It has been a week of both rapturous and disheartening news for fans of Yasiin Bey. Fans of the artist formerly known as Mos Def were treated to a surprise with the announcement of his release from South Africa after a nearly year of detainment, followed by the reveal that he would be performing live for the last time ever at the end of the year. But now comes another good piece of news: a new album is coming.

Together with producer Ferrari Sheppard, Bey has formed a duo titled December 99th. For their debut album, they are releasing a self-titled collection of songs. According to a press release, the entirety of the album was written and recorded during Bey’s detention in South Africa during the past year.

December 99th is due (fittingly) on December 9. Check out the tracklist below:
