New Delhi: The rupee on Mo
nday plunged to an all-time low of 61 against the US dollar in morning trade surpassing the previous record of 60.76. On Friday, the rupee had closed at 60.23 against the dollar.
The rupee was trading at 61.10 against the dollar, breaching the previous record of 60.76 hit on June 26.
The weakness in the Indian currency came after the US reported a better-than-expected job data for the month of June when it created 195,000 jobs. The rupee also fell with the fear that the US Federal Reserve will likely start cutting its massive monetary stimulus.
