Pro-Choice Signs Are Taking Over Mike Pence’s Neighborhood

Mike Pence is known as one of the most strident anti-abortion politicians in the United States. He’s voted six times to defund Planned Parenthood, called for a repeal of Roe v. Wade, and supported a law that mandates that women who have had abortions or miscarriages arrange for burial or cremation of the remains. So when the vice president–elect moved into his new rented home in Chevy Chase, Maryland, NARAL Pro-Choice America had quite the message for the new resident.

The pro-choice organization put up signs around the area that read, “This neighborhood trusts women.”

NARAL spokesperson Doug Gordon told The Huffington Post, “NARAL wanted to send a clear message to the incoming administration that if they go forward with their agenda of stripping women of their fundamental rights they should expect a fight all over the country and even in their own front lawn.”

D.C. went blue during the election, with a whopping 76 percent of its voters registered as Democrats. It’s no surprise that Gordon says the signs were a hit with the community and dozens of Pence’s neighbors requested signs of their own.
