Huawei launches Bitcoin Wallet in store that comes pre-installed in all their Smartphones

Huawei is China’s largest Smartphone company ahead of companies like Xiaomi and Apple. They’re also the third largest smartphone manufacturer, just below Apple and Samsung. Outside China, Huawei has a major presence in countries like India and multiple European nations. The company is now committed to providing Bitcoin Wallets on all their new smartphones.

Huawei is launching BTC.com’s Bitcoin wallet on their own App Store, called ‘AppGallery’. Existing Huawei customers will be able to download the app from this store. Since the Google Play store is not available in the Chinese market, a lot of the consumers use AppGallery to download their apps. This is the first time a large phone manufacturer will be offering a Bitcoin wallet by default on all of their devices.

De la Torre, the Vice President of Business Operations at BTC.com told Bloomberg, “It’s a good opportunity to tap into the Chinese market. The use of cashless payments with apps is very big and the traditional banking system is lacking, so there’s a good use case for crypto payments to grow there.”

While China has cracked down Cryptocurrency trading and ICOs, it is still legal to store Cryptocurrencies. The including of a Bitcoin wallet in a large part of Chinese smartphone can accelerate adoption.

Jaime Gonzalo, vice president of Huawei’s mobile services said, “From our leadership position in China, the tip of the spear of mobile payments, we expect to see massive growth in global cryptocurrency adoption habits in the near future”.

BTC.com is owned by Bitmain, the world’s largest mining hardware manufacturer. Bitmain is also the world’s largest mining pool with mining power of 7953 PH/s at the time of writing this article.
