The Prince of Wales chose a convertible, or Volante, version of Aston Martin’s long-serving V8. He wanted, naturally, the high-performance version – the Vantage. What he did not want, however, was the slightly aggressive power-styling that normally came with the Vantage. Although some drivers liked having a boot spoiler and side-skirts to indicate the power within, the Prince did not feel the need to flaunt. He wanted the go without the show, so he opted for the high-powered engine, but with the unadorned look of the car as it was originally designed.
